[MBZ] '91 300D purchase inspection

I'm going to look at a '91 300D that smokes.  What things should I look for on this car before making an offer?  It has 235kmi, clean body, no rust or dents (just parking lot dings) and the interior is clean and everything works.  Suggestions welcome.  TIA all.
